Abstract

Nanoparticles have achieved a lot of attention and influenced considerable material science. The dominance of nanoparticles may continue in the future years because of its technological importance with implementing incessant research in this field. The aim of the study was to characterize the A. racemosus mediated silver nanoparticles using UV Vis spectrometer. The roots of A. racemosuswere collected and prepared as an extract. This extract was used for the reduction of Ag+ ions to silver nanoparticles. 1 mM of 90 mL silver nitrates solution was prepared and 10 mL of 100 mg plant extract was added and kept in a shaker for synthesis of nanoparticles. Analysis and characterization of nanoparticles was done using UV visible spectrometer and Scanning Electron Microscope. The Peak appears at 420 nm confirming the synthesis of nanoparticles using UV-vis spectrophotometer and the average size of the nanoparticles was found to be 150 nm. Silver nanoparticles when used in appropriate concentrations act as a safe alternative to chemically derived other antimicrobial agents. Therefore, silver nanoparticles could be a better alternative agent for cleaning and disinfection of equipment and surfaces in food industry.
