Abstract

In vitro propagation has provided an effective method for the conservation of valuable plants. The aim of the investigation was to define the effect of different growth regulators on in vitro propagation of Scoparia dulcis L. in Murashige and Skoog (M.S.) media using leaf, node and internode as explants. The investigation was done in Plant Tissue Culture Laboratory, Department of Botany, Patna Science College, Patna in 2017. During the research work M.S. media was used fortified with various combinations and concentrations of 2,4-D, IAA, BAP+2,4-D for callogenesis and BAP+IAA, BAP+NAA for shoot induction and IBA and NAA individually both in solid and liquid media for root formation. It was found out during the study that callogenesis was best achieved in leaf explants. At 1.5mg/l BAP+0.5mg/l IAA maximum average number of shoots were formed from callus. At 0.5mg/l NAA in half strength liquid media maximum average number of roots was formed. Survival rate of regenerated plantlets was 85%. Thus the investigation can help in laying down an effective protocol for in vitro conservation of the ruderal weed- Scoparia dulcis L.
