Abstract

Kerosene ingestion is common accident among Indian children. Though maximum cases are cured with less fatality, few cases may develop to life threatening situation like pneumothorax. Such a rare event has been presented in this case report where a 20 months old child ingested unknown amount of kerosene oil and treated initially in local hospital. He was diagnosed as pneumothorax clinically on day 5 in tertiary care centre and treated immediately by needle thoracocentesis initially. Later it was confirmed by chest radiograph and intercostals tube was inserted.
